About Chris Kenney

I have been a committed artist since my early twenties and have mostly learned and studied on my own.  Over the years I have gained skills through dedicated practice, learning from books, videos, and other artists.

​

Over the years I have worked with pen and ink, pastels, watercolors, and acrylics; I eventually got up the courage to work in oils which had always been my dream.  My first and favorite subject matter is wildlife.  In 2013 I started to paint regularly "en plein air" (French for in the open air) and fell in love with it.  I painted all around my neighborhood dragging my "art cart" (a shopping cart pictured behind me to the right above) around with my easel and pochade box.  I wanted to paint as much as possible from life and always wanted to learn how to paint landscapes.

From January 2021 to Nov 2022, I was a member of Dustin Neece's Painting Membership, a group of artists who met online regularly to discuss painting, learn from Dustin, and grow as artists.  Dustin is a wonderful teacher, and I am very grateful to have studied with him.  In Feb 2023, I joined Watts Atelier Online Program to further develop my skills and pursue my artistic goals.
